Background of the Study
Family planning is a vital public health strategy for managing population growth, improving maternal and child health, and fostering sustainable development. Public relations (PR) plays a crucial role in promoting family planning campaigns by raising awareness, addressing misconceptions, and engaging stakeholders. In Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State, family planning campaigns face challenges such as cultural resistance, misinformation, and inadequate outreach. Studies by Yusuf and Ibrahim (2023) emphasize the importance of PR strategies such as media advocacy, community engagement, and interpersonal communication in promoting family planning. This study explores the role of PR in enhancing the effectiveness of family planning campaigns in Birnin Gwari LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the availability of family planning services in Birnin Gwari LGA, uptake remains low due to factors such as cultural taboos, lack of awareness, and misinformation. These challenges hinder efforts to promote family planning and improve public health outcomes. This study examines how PR can address these issues, focusing on its role in promoting family planning campaigns in Birnin Gwari LGA.
